Default On the mend...anybody want to PM me some bluegill/redear info?

My pain has lessened greatly even though I haven't passed a stone to my knowledge. I know I'm tired of straining my urine to see.

I've been off the lake for several days and my buddy Chaunc and his brother (whom I have not met but look forward to) are heading into town for a few days starting Sat. I need some basic info on the gills and redears on both Barkley and KY. No coordinates just basics. I plan on taking them to some of my north Barkley spots on Tuesday but I'm open to most any action. I may put them on the spawning channel cats also.

Chaunc has not mentioned it here as he doesn't do any patting himself on his back but I will do it for him: He has a young family member, I believe a nephew, who is battling cancer in PA and Chaunc has taken all the fish he has caught recently and done a big fish fry, donations only accepted, to help the family with expenses. I plan on emptying my freezer to help when Kenny heads back. It would be great for him to be able to take back several bags of fillets for this cause. Any help I could get to put him on fish while he is here with his brother would just go to help this cause.

    Thanks.

Glad you're having some relief with the kidney stone mrdux. Don't know about LBL red ear or blue gill. I'm on Cumberland and the cold weather is a mystery to everyone and the fish for now!

Hope your bout' is through. I've been there!

Everyone has different techniques for finding gills but I have had the best luck on KY lake in the last 1/4 of the secondary creeks in shallow water with abundant cover. I like to find overhanging brush or good vegetation and start there. I can tell you that my best artificial bait there has been a Swedish pimple with the treble hook replaced with a #4 hook and tipped with a tube jig. Generally I will run the spoon with a ky lake Christmas tree tube. I have found alot of gills in swamp creek trolling for crappie but I have never actually looked around and gill fished it. I did notice on my last trip down we caught 5-6 keeper red ears on June bug chartruese jokers. That was about this time last year. Good luck.

Glad you're doing better! My best wishes to Chaunc and all he's doing to help his family, and prayers for his nephew. Hope all goes well!

Fished Blood River yesterday with dismal results. Fished 3 holes that I caught 50-60 gills in last year and caught one.

Just spent three days at Barkley and my spots were dead. I was forced to keep moving and would pick up a redear here or there. The really big redear escaped me for the most part, having only three that went a pound and a half. Caught those three where you caught your big redear that you mounted...also filled up on cats and average size bluegill in there too. That little area is super busy though!
