    Default Green River Lake....

Headed to Green River Lake May 23-26, never fished it so I thought I would try it. Staying at the state campground, and launching hopefully there too. Any advice on how to fish Green would be greatly appreciated. Normally spider rig, long line troll, or pull crank baits, but have no idea where or what to do to keep the kids entertained on a new lake! Thanks in advance...

I'd spider rig around the island in shallow water (10-15') early, then longline troll out a little deeper, on up in the day. Water temps "might" be high enough to warrant pulling some cranks, but I'd stay on the Lone Valley Campground side of the island to do that ... since there's a lot of KDFWR fish attractor brushpiles on the Emerald Isle side. You also have to realize that there's a lot of Musky/Walleye in that lake ... and they do like cranks

No guarantees, but that's what I'd do if I were fishing that area of the lake.

    Hi Wade,
The state camp ground is nice. I would make reservations , it gets full sometime. I normally don't fish that end of the lake and all I do is cast but I will tell you what I have seen the last two times out (Sat and yesterday)
Most of the spawn is over, IMO. Still catching fish in 4-6 fow but they seem to be moving slowly out of the creeks. Water temp Monday got up to 78 on the surface. Got to week thru a lot of small ones for some keepers.
    Good luck and enjoy Ky
    Paul
