    Default Filet knife repair

Does anyone repair electric filet knives? I have a American Angler knife that let go today. It still runs but wont pull the blades. I figure it is miner but don't know who works on them. Any help would be great.

Do you have a Rural King around you? They put electric knives on sale every couple of months for $9.99. Every other year or so I buy 2 or 3. I always seem to get my money's worth before they end up in the garbage can.

Pretty simple to take apart. Got a set of gears in there. Should be able to see what is wrong once you open it up. Bet gears are stripped. Might be able to get parts from American Angler.

I have an old Mister Twister still working for many years.
My Friend and I bought them at the same time and his died after one summer.
I tried to get him to tape down the button but he thought it was not safe. It may not be safe but I did it anyway. I believe it's better for the knife to run continuously
instead of on and off for each fish.
I have it plugged into a cheap power strip just incase I need to shut if off quick
I have cleaned thousands of fish over the years - including 100's of white bass at one time
Wal-Mart has the replacement blades for cheap

My dad had one think it was AA 12 v it wouldnt work but didn't look old at all. I took it apart and didn't see any thing obvious so I thought it was a bad motor. Put it back together and it started working.

Thanks for the replies. American Angler does not repair and I'm having any luck finding someone to so I guess I will tackle it myself. I bought a Mister twister knife yesterday to get by with and I'm not very impressed. It took alot longer to dress fish and didn't cut very well at all. Wish me luck!

Try this! Your AA blades will work in your MT. Takes a little doing to get them in correctly, so that they both work correctly. I'm currently using AA shark blades in an old MT. I'm not so sure that it's not working better than the original AA did with the same blades! I too, agree with the comment of taping the switch. Have been doing that for several years now. It seems to make them last longer to me. Just my opinion. Best of luck!
