How were you fishing

Went out with the nephew today on some water I usually fish on Barkley Lake to catch some crappie. I figured the fishing was going to be a little tough since all this rain we just got and the temp was 20 degrees cooler than yesterday. High pressure and sunny skies didn't help either but I can usually still catch a few decent ones. We fished from 10-5 with three keepers and they weren't nothing to talk about. I was throwing on all kinds of jig colors scents and minnows. We caught all three right on bottom. I went into the shallow water and fished every depth I could for a reasonable time they just wouldn't go for it. Caught some dinks but this was the worst I've about ever did at this spot. Talked to 5 other boats and they all said the same thing. Seen some guys fishing for blacks don't know how they did but I can usually tell if there hitting when I get in the real shallow water. Did anybody else have this problem today. Wish I would have went to my other hole and fished some really deep water might have did better. Water temp was 58 where I was at and 60 at end of day. Still better than sitting at home wish the nephew would have got a nice one. Looks like the spawn in this area is about a week off. Heading down next weekend for a week and think I might be in for some real good fishing.

I don't get to fish barkley much but we had our best day ever 17 keepers and only 2 were under 12 inches. They were all caught in less than 10 foot. If I remember right 4 were over 13 inches. We were spider rigging fish were scattered but not one non keeper crappie all day. We caught crappie, largemouth, smallmouth, drum, catfish and strippers. The kids had a blast

Fished around Big Bear on Ky lake Saturday afternoon and struggled as well. Not only was the fishing tough but had battery troubles too. We caught 4 keepers. Tried a number of methods and no success.

I fished KY Lake earlier in the week and the fish were attacking jigs behind the planer boards at around 1mph. Yesterday the fish were slamming the jigs but not hooking up. I tried slowing down, speeding up, all sorts of color combinations, etc. Nothing seemed to matter. I'll bet I had 30 hits that almost or completely jerked the board under but didn't hook. I think this cold rain and wind set them back a few days. I was seeing some 58 degree water on the surface. Heading back out today with the longline gear and slowing down. I'm going to drop back from my normal 1/8 jig to 1/16th. We'll see. I was pleasantly surprised that the water in the west side bays didn't muddy up from the rain.

I was changing speeds also I figured with the cold front they would want it real slow, wasn't working at .2 then after a while sped up didn't work. Mrdux same thing as you was getting hits but they would not take it a lot of light bites and some a little more aggressive but wouldn't hook up. Just a tough day!

Same kind of day for me on Kentucky Lake. Caught several bass but crappie didn't want to cooperate. Bad sign when I crossed the bridge and saw a mud line at the mouth of the bays all the way back. Looked like chocolate milk.
