I am taking my daughter on a crappie fishing trip this year for over Spring Break. Had a trip to Ky Lake planned but this polar vortex has me concerned that its gonna mess things up. Date is March 28th for our trip. We do have the option to head South to Sardis Lake in MS and hook up with a guide there and fish and visit relatives. Weather down there has been much better. Looking for some input for you more experienced folks as Im wanting her to have as good an experience as possible!! Thank ya

I'm in the exact same boat. Planning first trip to KY lake last week in March for 3 days with my son who will be on spring break and my Dad. Don't think we have time to go as far as MS so we might just cancel if things don't improve.
Ive been to KY Lake a few times and I LOVE the lake and the area but this weather is crazy. We will be on Spring Break too and would have the time and the free lodging would be the bonus in MS, could either go to Sardis or Grenada both supposed to be great lakes but I do Love KY lake this cold weather may just be a trip killer. I have a guide booked, looking to possibly change the dates to come back for redear later?? Head south for the Crappie??
spring camp at nadar last weekend of march
I love KY lake also but If I had free lodging around Grenada or Sardis I think I would head South. I've never been down there been wanting to go for a few years but haven't made it down there yet.
Grenada is where I would go. By then they will be on fire! Home of the 3lb slabs!
By the end of the month the polar vortex will be long gone and the crappie fishing should be good![]()
