Kentucky Lake Questions
Hey guys, I was hoping to get some insight on Kentucky Lake. I know there are a couple threads out there already started about the lake and I do not want to ask the same questions that have already been addressed. However, I did have a few questions that I was hoping you guys could help clear up.
My buddies and I are in the process of planning a fishing trip and Kentucky Lake keeps coming up as being a good spot. We were looking at early Spring (Last week of March-First week of April) as a potential time to head down. We most often use a minnow or small jig. We also sometimes long line troll. Based on experience does that tend to be an active period or is it too early?
If we came that time I am assuming we should look to fish the southern end of the lake as it would be closer to the spawn, is that correct? If we do come at that time are the techniques that you guys have found work best based on the time of the year. I know it is impossible to truly know the exact best time to go for the most activity, but was hoping to get a decent idea from those that spend that most time on the lake. If needed we can move our times if it looks like we are heading down too early.
In regard to sleeping accommodations, I have read about and looked into Moors and the Fin and Feather (not much on their website), but is there any other spots that you guys would recommend? We have a camper that we were thinking about taking. If we decided to go that route what would be the best campgrounds?
We would also need to rent a boat. What places have the best fishing boats for the price? We are not looking for the cheapest, but the best quality for the money. We have gone down the cheap path before and realized the hard way it is much nicer to find a good boat to rent since we will be spending all day on the water.
Being our first time on Kentucky Lake we will also be looking to hire a guide. Are there one or two guides that you guys would recommend trying to get a hold of?
I know that I had a lot of questions but any help is greatly appreciated. We are just some good friends looking to get out on the lake and catch some fish. I am not trying to steal spots or secrets, but just looking for a heads up on some where to go down at the lake. Thank you guy for any help you can give me.
