Any good crappie lakes in Northern Ky?
I normally fish Williamstown Lake and every now and then can snag a 10"er but seems they have too many little guys in there. Anybody of a lake around here that has some decent ones? Just wondering and looking of new lakes to try

Taylorsville lake is about an hour and 45 minutes away

There's not much in N.KY for crappie. Boltz, Bullock Pen, AJ Jolly. They are like Williamstown. Lots of crappie on the small side. I've caught a few decent ones out of AJ Jolly (it's supposed to be a great catfish lake though). Bullock Pen has a ton of < 8 inch crappie. Don't think I caught one fish over 8 inches so I won't be trying it again any time soon.
Two years ago, Fish and Wildlife pulled out 1,700 white crappie out of Boltz and took them to Taylorsville, right before the spawn. I don't know if it's helped the size or not. I fished it twice last year and nearly ever crappie I've pulled out was about 8.5 inches. I think the crappie just multiply too fast there, without enough predators perhaps. Anyway, I'm in N.KY too. My go-to reservoir is East Fork. I can be there from Florence in 50 minutes and it's a good crappie lake. Just need an Ohio license.
I have been fishing the creeks too the last few years - Big Bone and Gunpowder and Craigs in Warsaw. My experience with the Ohio backwaters is that you might not catch the same the numbers but the size is bigger than the local lakes.
I'm going to explore pools #1 and #2 of the KY. River this year. That is supposed to be good for crappie too.

Spring is a good time to get some nice ones in creeks off the River. I agree with mbk ... give Big Bone, Paint Lick, Gunpowder and Craigs a try.

here are a couple caught from one of the above mentioned creeks, not the biggest, but also not the smallest.

I'm thinking another week and all the creeks should be in good shape again. Looking forward to it.
