Default Anyone catching crappie at green

Just wondering if anyone is catching crappie at green river , planning a trip this week and was looking for some help as to how deep they were and if they are on the banks yet or on the flats around Holmes bend ? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Jason

Been fishing the flats to the left of Holmes Bend for 3 weeks. First 2 weeks we limited out. This past week (Friday 10/4) we had 32 keepers and a few cats but the shad seem to be moving farther down. Found a bunch of shad around the cone to the right of holmes but only had 1 keeper out of 15 fish. Had a buddy fishing brush towards White Oak and they did about the same. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply and info , I appreciate it . Do u think it would be best for me to go to the left from Holmes then or to the right ? Was the shad toward the dam from Holmes or up toward the bend and flats to the right ? Thanks a bunch. Hope to see you on the water , I will be in a white and grey lund 1775 with a mercury 115 ..

If I was going this week I would put in at Holmes and take off left. After the first hard bend scan the flats on the right for the shad. If you find them there, then usually there will be some on the left a little farther up towards the next bend also. (Last week they were 22-27 ft deep) If I couldn't find them there I would turn around and go towards the cone and start looking. With this colder weather moving in who knows but that would be my game plan. Hope this helps and please don't blame me for any empty live-wells. Hope you find them.

Plan on going Friday, haven't been for over a month. Switching from cranks to minnows. Anyone have a current water temp?

This says 74.3deg -- Green River Lake Weather Forecast & Conditions - Kentucky 42718 -- but, that's likely down near the dam.

Phone call to 270-465-8824 (COE lake level) gets no answer due to gov shutdown per their Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...62726117097820 )

Probably best to call & make sure ramps are open, before making the drive down there !!

Since the corps maintains Holmes Bend, Smith Ridge, Pikes Ridge and Dam recreation area, i would believe they are closed. Heard they had Pike Ridge blocked off. May call
Joey tomorrow, just to check if i get a chance.
