Have a son who moved his family to Jeffersonville, several blocks away from the Ohio River. Anybody in the area that can tell me about ramps, what to fish for, and where to fish for them. They are in the area of Utica rd and Catawba rd. Any help would be appreciated, as i'll want to take my son and grandson fishing, and show them a good time.
Everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer!
Sounds like you mean they live off of Utica Pike, maybe Catalpa Drive in RiverSide?? I live in Utica, In. which is about eight or nine miles from downtown Louisville Ky. There's a nice boat ramp really close to your son called Duffy's Landing and it accesses the Ohio River. It gets REALLY busy on weekends though and is quite nerve racking as I've seen arguments and darn near fist fights down there. I'm going down there in about thirty minutes to run my boat for a little while on the river. I'm probably less than three miles from where your son lives if I'm guessing correctly.
Old Clarksville has a boat ramp which allows you access below the Falls of The Ohio...I was down there yesterday and folks are hammering the big cats. Scary place down there though, I've lived here all of my life and don't use that ramp because of the rocks that are present, not to mention the turbulent current created when the dams are open. The lower dam was wide open yesterday and people were going through the strong currents, their boats were being pushed one hundred yards down river in some cases before they had control over the boat again.
