    Default Fishing Laurel Lake

I'm going to be going to Laurel next Sunday and spend a few days. I've been there before at this time of year and didn't
have much luck fishing for crappie, bluegill and redear. Does anybody that has fished have any tips on how I might catch
some of these. I don't expect to catch a lot but would like to catch enough for a couple meals.

I don't have the skinny on Laurel Lake but there seem to be lots of bays and creek arms and I fish similar waters a lot. I find in Summer once it gets in the upper 70's for water temp work the bays near the mouths in a little deeper water. Even when fish are suspended higher in these bays they will be over deeper structure or ledges. If you have decent electronics look in these type areas. Gills usually stay near bottom in 6-8'+ but usually not much deeper than 12-15'. Redear are where you find them anytime. Usually a little deeper than the gills, but elusive in general. Best of luck and have a great trip!

Thanks killum. I've fished been there several times but it's always at the wrong time. I'll take your advice and work the mouths. Laurel gets deep quick so most of the time I'll be close to the shore most of the time in order to stay in 15' and under of water.

Thanks for the advice and I will have a great trip even if I don't catch fish. Laurel has a great campground and I'll be with family.

Sometimes you can find some decent gills up the river above the 312 bridge and the upper end of Craigs Creek in the pockets.

I've fished up Craigs Creek before but never had any luck but it won't hurt to try again. I've been up to the 312 bridge before but never fished it. Looks like I'll have to go up there with a pole.

    Thanks for the tips.
