After our first trip down there last week and all of the good fortune we experienced we're going to try our luck one more time. Headed down for the bluegill/cracker bite, hopefully I'll get lucky again. We're only staying Sunday and Monday nights so it'll be a short trip. I've been thinking about our trip since we got back and told my wife that they only spawn once a year so lets go for it...she agreed and that's that.
I saw where they've been dropping the lake all week, I'm sure the fish have backed out a bit. Are the gills and ears on nest?

What a difference a week makes, the lake has obviously been pulled down since I was here over a week ago. We did get on some really nice crackers in my ole honey hole but it was in the middle of the day when we got here and the heat was pretty intense...I think in the morning I'll get after it early and try to beat the heat. Hopefully I'll have some eye candy up tomorrow evening.
Not fair!!!!! Knock'em dead the bite is on fire!!!
Yall be careful, wind going to be rough next couple days.
We struggled this time, what a difference a week makes. My honey hole had dried up, got a great tip last night but didn't get to check it out because of the rain this morning. I do think the bigger crackers spawn first, the ones we caught Sunday afternoon and yesterday were really nice but weren't quite as big as the ones from ten days ago.
I was there the same time and didn't do much on Redear either. We caough some realy nice gills on KY Lake on Saturday and thought we would try Barkley on Sunday. Didn't have near the luck although we did catch two nice Redears most of them were really small. What were you catching them on when you were there earlier?
When we came down right after Derby I lucked out and stumbled upon a nest of crackers in that high water. We were using redworms the first trip and did pretty darn well given the high water conditions...I think they may just bite much better in those high water conditions though. We came back about nine days later and the lake was on a big draw down, the bite sucked to be honest. I found some good size crackers in the marina where we stayed right up on the rocks and actually fished from the dock to catch the one in the photo, it weighed a pound and a half.
