    Default Good trustworthy marine mechanic

Anyone know someone that is honest and fair priced in western KY? I have about given up on figuring this motor out on my own and might have to break down and pay someone to tear into it. I hate to go to a mechanic blind...so anyone got any recommendations?

I think I would start with a brand-specific mechanic and work from there if it is a major, internal issue.

What brand is the motor? HP?

The Old Baithouse did me right on a cobra strerndrive that the others said couldn't be fixed. $100 and I was out of the door. It just needed adjusting. There is also AC Adams in Sikeston Mo that is the best small outboard guy I know. I have run Yamaha's for 8 years now and they don't need fixin'. Yet......

It is a 1972 Johnson 25 horse, which might also determine who I can go to. I know some guys won't touch the older motors because of how much parts can cost. I really don't think it is anything major, I just can't figure it out and it is getting frustrating and the more frustrated I get the less likely it is I will figure it out ha ha. I will be looking for a new one in the fall, but for now I gotta make due with what I have.
