Default Boating accident on Ky Lake?

Getting bits and pieces of a bad boating accident on KY lake today. Supposedly somebody hit something, tore the motor off and was struck and seriously hurt by the engine. I know there are some big bass tournaments on there today and tomorrow. A guy from Mayfield was seriously hurt a few years ago in a similar situation.

Be careful out there! There are some serious pieces of garbage floating around with this high water.

I fished in one of the big tournaments today and I didn't hear about this but tomorrow is the final of the tournament so ill see if any thing is said at it about the wreck. Ran from the dam to birdsong and there was more trash from 68-80 bridge to 79 than any spot I seen.

    from the news
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A boat accident on a local lake backed up traffic early Thursday evening.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Kentucky Lake, near the Eggners Ferry Bridge.

There's no word on what may have caused the crash, or if anyone was injured.

The crash did cause a traffic back up for miles across the bridge.

Traffic has since been cleared, and is moving across the bridge.

Channel 6 just reported that a fisherman from MO was killed when their tournament bass boat hit part of the bridge, tore the motor off and it hit the passenger.

Thoughts go out to his family.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - A Jackson, Missouri man died Thursday in a boating accident on Kentucky Lake, under Eggners Ferry Bridge.

Marshall County Deputy Coroner Barry Taylor says 51-year-old Timothy Allan Clitpard died from blunt force trauma.

Garry Clark with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife says Clitpard, along with another person, were on a boat heading north, when the boat hit an underwater structure that's part of the bridge.

Clark says that forced the motor to flip up into the boat, striking the 51-year-old and killing him.

    The boat's operator was unharmed.

The accident caused a traffic back up for miles across the bridge.

Traffic has since been cleared, and is moving across the bridge.

I know the driver. They were really good friends. Terrible, terrible accident. Operator with years of boat experience, be careful out there.

Sad. This guy is from Jackson MO were I live. He was well known and liked here.

I fish small mouth there during the summer. The boat hit one of the concrete pier braces that are under the bridge. they are usually about 4 or 5 feet out of the water at summer pool but now are probably even with the water. I see people running through there all the time to keep from going through the channel.

Had a friend hit and killed by a barge there a few years back. They were fishing smallies in the channel. His partner said they never hear the barge until it was there.

    BE CAREFUL!!!!!
I think the mistake a lot of us make is thinking the state-appointed shrink is our friend.

They said the motor broke off the back and landed on Tim in the passenger seat. Never would have believed that could happen.
