Hi Guys,
I'm here! LOL Tracker, for Jonathan Creek I would call Brad Weakley. You can contact him at (270)354-9974 or 1-877-547-FISH. His web site is Weakley's Guide Service on Kentucky Lake Brad lives close by and knows that area well. I was going to fish Jonathan a few days ago but between locals, tourists, and tournaments going on the state ramp was FULL! Plus in the area I wanted to fish you could walk from shore to shore on the boats. LOL I ended up going to the north end of the lake. I can tell you a buddy was on em last week working the channel east of the 68 bridge about mid way between the bridge and the mouth of the bay. They weren't associated with any cover. They were just scattered on the ledges holding between 14 and 16 feet deep. He was spider rigging 3 inch curly tails, chartruese and red, tipped with minnows. But I believe that can change daily. Jonathan has been pretty stained with the heavy rains that seem to keep coming through every few days. But it isn't quit as bad east of the 68 bridge. Where are you staying? If the state ramp is too crowded you can usually launch at Sportsmen for like $7. Sucks to pay but they have minnows and if the wind is really up from the west or southwest it is worth the cost. They set in a small cut that is out of most winds making launching and loading easier. There is also Town and Country as well but I haven't launched there in a few years. There use to be a pretty good drop off the ramp into their parking lot. I have a chunk out of my skeg to prove it! I had been guiding all day, was beat, ready to get home, and forgot to trim the big motor before I came off the ramp. DUH!
There is also a good bit of manmade cover on the north side east of the bridge. Just start drifting around in 10 feet of water or so and you will find some. And if the weather is decent I would go across and hit a few LBL bays. Start in Rhodes which is just northeast of Jonathan. The black crappie should be coming on very soon. A tube under a casting bobber is the norm. Work the gravel and rock banks. Just be sure and stay in the channels. Also watch the weather for wind forecasts. Anything over 20 mph and you have to second guess crossing unless you have a good boat and are use to rough water. Also staying in the channel when the lake is rolling is even more important as you can hit bottom even easier. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
