    Default green river info?

I have never been to Green river lake. I am planning 3 days next week to catch some crappies with my wife. Where should I stay? Since I have read some post about the river level fluctuating does it get very muddy after a rain and does it clear up fast? Which part of the lake is better? Is there standing timber up the creek arms or stumps. Does the local bait shop have a good topo map of the lake that can be bought and which bait shop is the best?
    Thanks

It usually takes a day or two before it starts getting muddy, but, it depends on how much rain they get. It takes about 2-3 days to clear back up, depending, again how much rain falls. Alot of the lake is good. There is Green River bait and grocery. Kenny has bait, groceries, sandwiches and gas. The make very good pizza's and Kenny makes a great sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. He opens at 5:30 am. 5240 Knifley Rd Columbia, Ky 42728 ph 270-384-5206. Holmes bend resort is around the corner from them. Even thou they are not open full time, you can still call and get cabins. And a map of the lake there as well at the marina.

I'll second Kenny's store for information about the lake and for a local source of bait. I fished the main lake yesterday in gorgeous weather, minus some wind, and struck out on jigs. I moved up into the river where there was some moving water and kept 15 in an hour and a half. I was marking fish in known productive spots on the main lake and am confident that if I had stopped to buy live bait that morning that I could have called it a day before noon. Conditions are changing every day this time of year while the weather is doing its thing, the Corps is doing their thing and the fish are trying to figure out what the lake is going to be like. Water temp was 50 when I looked down at the screen driving past the dam and the water color was improving in both the river and lake.
