Default Anticipating Ky Lake Trip and have questions

Looks like i'll be fishing Ky Lake 4th, 5th, and 6th of March at Fin-N-Feather Lodge. Gonna take rods to spider rig and rods to toss a jig. I'm considering buying minnows here and taking them with me as it seems the price of minnows here is considerably less and it won't be a problem transporting them. How much do minnows cost there? Around here I can buy them by the pound or 95 cnts a dozen. We plan to fish Jonathan Creek and Blood River. Do both areas have a defined creek channel? Yall do have bacon for breakfast don't ya? Haven't be this excited about anything since my wife grabed me by the arms and planted a big ole smooch on me 39 years ago...... and yep, she's glad ta rid of me for a couple a days too. Any help you might lend will be helpful.

    Thanks
    Russ

Russ, I was there back in October for the classic. I would suggest you take some minnows. Most of the bait shop carry shiner minners but hardly any carries a regular bull head minnow. Their shiner minnows are $13.50 lb. I get them from the bait shop next to the Willow pond restaurant which is about 50-60 yds away from fin-n-feathers. But i would also suggest getting some shiner minnows as well. I took 9 lbs of regular minnows but them crappie also loves them shiners as well. In blood , you'll find the channel for sure. One minute you are in 20-28 fow and bam, your in 6 fow. Jonathan is a little less but can still get on it. I would suggest getting a Hot map of the lake, can get them at walmart.

    Good luck, Chuck

I'm coming down in April too, 2nd through the 7th. 4 or 5 days out of 365 just isn't enough. It's my favorite lake to fish.

    Hi Seeker,

Jonathan has a decent channel from the 68 bridge east to the main lake. Blood has a decent channel from Wildcat out, making a turn at Sheep Ridge and heading out to the main lake. In either the further in you go the more silted in the old channels become. I think you'll find plenty of bacon. Bring new 80 west from Aurora to US 641 north of Murray. Turn south and drive a couple miles to Martha's at the north end of town on the west side of 641. Pretty decent food, including the bacon, and HOT coffee! Oh, and Kenlake right there close to your hotel use to throw down some pretty good meals. You might want to try them too. Here is a link to their menu. http://parks.ky.gov/%21userfiles/par...t-menu-xbl.pdf Enuff to make your tongue slap your brains out!LOL

They are good and clean, nice people. They have a large gazebo out front where you can park your truck and boat for hook up. About 20 yds from your room. Unless you get one of them on the far end and then you can back up to your room. 15 mins from Jonathan creek, 5 mins from state park, 30 mins from blood, 30 mins from big bear.
