Default Kentucky Lake or Barkley Lake for a group of about 15 early April?

    All,

I am trying to coordinate a group trip to either Kentucky or Barkley lake for a group.

    Number of people: 15
Need to be able to at least rent one bass boat:
Choices narrowed down to Shawnee on KY or Buzzard Rock Resort which is on Lake Barkley. Any thoughts on these?

Can anyone tell me which lake is better that time of year? Any recommendations of which one is the better choice and why? We are looking for crappie first and then anything after.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I would check with the Marshall County and Lyon County tourism offices. They will have info on any member business. April 15 can be boom or bust, all according to the weather. If weather is warm, you could be toward the middle to end of the crappie spawn and beginning of the panfish spawn. Don't dismiss the panfish on both lakes. We have some world class bluegill and redear fishing in either lake.

Had April 15th on the brain. Tax Day? That's scary!
