Default Crappie Report for KY & Barkley Lakes

Fished Kentucky & Barkley Lakes today . Fished 5 bays, 30 stakebeds and had 1 fish. About as funky as I have seen the lakes in a while. Both lakes very muddy and lots of current. So far not much floating but I did see some logs! Maybe next time ?

Fish have slowed down a little, caught 18 and kept 5 that were over 12". One was 14". Sorry, no pictures, I gave them to a fisherman that had caught only one. Fishing small lake and most were caught on white with chatruse tail.

Wife and I went last Thursday, didn't get a bite, went Friday caught 11 total-1 was short-10 keepers.Wind was out of the North about 15mph Thursday and couldn't stay on them, Friday it had shifted to the Southeast, and was much better for the area I like to fish. The majority of the fish we caught were on the ledges in about 22-23 fow. Caught them on minnows or minnow/jig combo.Name: Crappie 1-18-13.jpg

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Are you guys and gals able to keep the ice out of your rod guides. Had to put on my sweater this morning, it was 55 and now this evening it is around 72. Wish I could ship it up to you. The weather map says that it is going to be a warm and early spring. I think we all deserve it. Normal pool and warm weather mean good fishing. I'll vote for that.
