Default Are there any reasonable rentals/places to stay around Barkley in May?

I was thinking of just getting a motel room for three nights but would also be interested in hearing from those of you who have info on rentals around the lake. I'm wanting to reserve something in the next two weeks, that way it's on the books and my wife can't weasel out.

Looking for a good bluegill/cracker bay to fish on the North/Mid lake part of Barkley.

Lake Barkley State Park is on Little River. Nice place to stay great food!!!! It's about half mile from boat ramp and marine. It's also a good gill & craker place as well. We've stayed there a few times with no problems. The only thing I don't like is you have to plug/charge your boat at a charging station & not by your room but I've never had a problem with anyone messing with anything. The have security at the lodge.

Hey redearhoosier, this may be too far south for you, but at Paris Landing which has excellent hotels, Paris Landing State Park Hotel and Restuarant, also Fishtail Lodge, both excellent locations, right near boat ramps, fish cleaning stations, Gas stations that sell non ethenol and serve great breakfast. At fishtail boat charging right at your room, excellent staff. Fishing is excellent in that area for both Crappie and bluegill as well as Shellcrackers. Google Paris Landing State Park as well as Fishtail Lodge, You won't be disappointed. If ya come this way, give me a shout, I live close to the lake and maybe we could grab a cup

Thanks guys, I think Paris Landing is probably a little south for us, we're coming from the Louisville area. Is Holiday Hills resort any good? It's way back in Eddy Creek, got me to wondering if it's to far back in there.

Eddy Creek is pretty good. Right on the water and a decent resturant. North end and pretty good crappie if you can find some stake beds. Redear is decent if you are lucky enough to hit the spawn.

Thanks guys for the information, I just pulled the trigger on Buzzard Rock/Poplar Creek. I'm excited, we've talked about this trip for several years and it never came to fruition because I didn't book it. It's one of those deals where if you book it, you'll schedule around it and make the trip but if you just plan on going on a spur of the moment, it doesn't happen. I'm self employed and May's a busy time of year for us, but I'll just schedule around it.

We're going to be there May5th-10th, but I might move it back a week to May 12th-17th, not sure. Looking for shellcracker and anything else is just gravy. Wouldn't mind catching some post spawn crappie, any pointers??
