    Thumbs up Trout trip #3

Went to the local FINs lake again, today ... all my buddies wimped out on me, but Chucky was already at the lake when I called him

I was there about a total of 2hrs, and brought home 4 trout. I gave up with only 4, because I missed the hookset on #5 ... and I was getting hungry, anyway.

I actually had 3 in the bucket within the first hour, and missed 3 of 4 bites over the second hour

One of my trout was tagged, but I didn't realize it until I got it home & started to clean it. I'll probably go back tomorrow morning & get one of the mailers to send it in with ... and visit with Chucky, who's probably gonna be there again. I might take one rod & a few lures, just to play around with while jawjackin' with my buddy Chucky

Let's see ... $10 for a trout stamp, $2.50 for worms, about $3 worth of gas, 9hrs of actual/total fishing time ... and 12 trout in the fridge. Not too shabby

    ... cp

A lot cheaper than you can find them on a menu, Beautiful day to fish too! Feels more like an early spring day.

Well.....Cp got me on the hunt for these dagnabit trouts. Went yesterday morning for about 4 hrs. Fished and chewed the fat with pappy for a couple of hours. Finished with a limit. When i left, my buddy CP was already half way towards his limit. I got home with the intent to leave again and head down to hunt the afternoon. My grandkids informed me that it was lunch time and that what was in the bucket would be just perfect. So, i had to fry some trout up before i could leave .

Went Back out this morning to try again for a couple of hours and then try to hunt again this afternoon. I was there maybe 15 mins before i caught my first one. Was getting water in my bucket when pappy came pulling up. While me and CP was jawjackin, i caught another. Then, missed several opportunities to add to the collection. after about an hour of no bites, we decided to head out. Pappy is pulling away and i started over to the guy next to me to give him some leftover crawlers, and of course, my cork vanishes. Go over and reel one in. Casted back out for another 15 mins with no more additions. Since i wanted to get to hunt earlier today than yesterday, i decide to give the all probation. So, back into the lake they went .

Nice talking with ya Pappy and i am sure we will be back after them again. BECAUSE............. when i got home tonight, it was not " hi papaw" or " let me tell you what we did today papaw" or " did you shoot anything papaw" .......but it was, where's the trout. Why didn't you bring any home. We want more trout .

There's a trout stream the state stocks with rainbows less than a mile from my house and I love walking down with a jar of grasshoppers in the summertime and catching a couple to put on the grill on a cedar plank with some fresh dill and lemons. Trout stamp is worth every penny.
