Sorry, I've been off line the last several days. Don't fish for white bass so I can't help you with them. Crappiepappy had some good ideas. If you're going to fish off the bank, bass, catfish, and bluegill is probably your best bet. A finese worm works well this time of year. Go with as light a weight as you can get away with an throw out an drag it slowly across the bottom. (plum color is one of my favorite colors for worm fishing) I'm betting you'll get into a few.Quote:

good news is i will have my boat down there, bad news is i am going in blind with it being my first trip to the lake but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
If you want to have some fun and catch fish with your wife and kids, you might try fishing with a small float and crickets around boat docks. The bluegill are absolutely tearing it up around the docks....and you'll probably catch an occasional bass or two. I took my two grandsons yesterday afternoon on KY Lake and we had a blast catching the bluegill. The boys also caught 3 or 4 bass apiece (1 to 2 lbs) and loved it. The docs are swarming with small minnows and the big fish are having a feeding spree. The secret to catching the bluegill (and by the way we caught some really nice ones) is to fish about 16" to 2 ft deep. The gills are hiding up in the shade under the docks ready to pounce on a tasty cricket presented right next to the dock. We fished all around the edges of the docks, paying particular attention to shady areas. I didn't try dock-shooting for crappie because I was busy helping the grandsons, but I imagine some nice crappie could be caught, especially on the deeper docks. On docks with pontoon boats, make sure you fish all around the pontoons. THe bluegill hide all around them. That would be my recommendation for a fun fishing trip with kids on KY Lake this week.

just wanted to thank you guys for the advise again we had a great time at the lake. the fishing was not the best but did manage to catch some. looking forward to going back when its not so hot.
