Default Tenn. / Kentucky License on Ky. Lake

We're heading down to Buchanan Resort in April and I was wanting to know if my Ky license would be all I need, or do I need a Tenn. license also ? I know the line is the bridge, but I had someone tell me that your Ky. would work as long as you stayed in the river channel ? I think I'll get a Tn license anyway, they're alot cheaper than a ticket.

That's not how I read a few years ago. You want to look at the TWRA.org website. If I remeber correctly you had to put in within whatever state your license was good for. You could go past the state line but for only so far. Hope that helps a little.

Page 15 of 2012-2013 KY fishing and boating guide. You can fish with a KY license, the lake and all embayments to the Hwy 79(Paris,TN) bridge. Past that you will need a TN non-resident License.

Yes, but if you are launching in TN you would need to obey TN law and purchase a non-resident license.

The guys are right. Staying at Buchanon you will need a Tennessee non-resident. I usually get one just so I don't have to worry. It is too tempting once I get down around the 79 bridge to slide into Big Sandy.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Yea, sure, no fish in Sandy, sorry, I forgot. The state shocked all the crappie out of Big Sandy last fall. Yep, no fish there! Best bet is just above the dam in about 70 feet of water with 2 ounce jiggin spoons. Yea, that's it!

The first time I got to spider rig was in the Big Sandy area. I bit my lip when my brother in law and his buddy took me, but stopped in Paris("you need to get your TN non-resident license"), after the third 14inch slab I just smiled and enjoyed the day as the extra cost was worth it all. Enjoy your trip, just be ready for a lot of people in April. Go get um Goldeneye.
