Default KY Lake- Longlining - Better Weekend March 22, 29 or April 12 - Moors Resort

Planning our annual trip to KY Lake to meet my Dad and some buddies for some crappie fishing at Moors.

Last year we came the middle of March and struggled (lake was high and boy was it cold) but traditionally we have done good the last part of March. (We have always went during the first or second week of March Madness) We said we were going to go a couple weeks later this year...

With the above normal current water temperatures- plus above normal temperatures in January and above average temperatures forecasted in KY for February, should we do March 22, 29 or April 12?

Prefer longlining in 12 FOW or less...

Any advice?....Whiskers? BigBadDad?....you guys have always helped out this GA boy!

I would shoot for the 29th given the weather patterns. The next full moon is April 6. But KY weather can change, just bring coveralls with the shorts and sandells. Either you hit the longlinning as you want or they may be on the bank in buckbushes, so just change plans. Versatility and Adaptability means Fishability and fish in the livewell. Enjoy your trip up and the time you share with your dad and friends. Perhaps the redbuds will be in bloom and the turkeys gobbling their heads off too!

IMHO I would come up the 22nd. Maybe not the best longlining time but the fish should be up within 6 to 8 foot prespawning if not whites staging and blacks spawning. Water temp is 47 degrees already. I also prefer cooler temps and cloudy days so I may be a little off center! Right now folks are catching fish from 6 to 28 foot. Quite alot of water to cover in there......fishing in your most comfortable (confident) depth is best. Wiskers or mrdux will steer ya right...
