Default Crappie Fishing on Nolin Lake?

Bought a place and a boat last year at Nolin and fished for crappie with little sucess. I have a fished with Jigs and minnows but never seemed to be able to get on a spot that produced well. Anyone that fish's there that can give me some tips and/or locations to try would be appreciated.

Thats my home lake get down there now and alot of banks are coverd with brush, mark them or put some out! The Corp. puts some out and they will start holding the water back around March 15, Just follow the cannel and fish the bank side of the drop.

Different people fish different ways but these would be my suggestions if you do not have any beds to fish. Fish the standing timber coves...furnace hollow, red rock, briar creek, piney, etc. I like to tight line or use jig/floater. The problem using a jig and floater is you will probably need a longer rod (8'-9') for casting reasons this time of year because you usually have to fish 8 - 12' deep. Get into the standing timber and fish by every piece of timber you see. Some people like to spider rig with minnows and that works well. If you don't want tightline a jig or use jig/floater, put a hook and sinker on with minnow and tightline straight down off the boat floating around the timber slowly. those are my suggestion and any should catch fish.

    Happy Fishing

For Nolin I like a VMC jig tipped with a minnow, 10' Sam Heaton rod, 1/4oz weight and swivel with about 18 inches of leader to the jig. I use small diamter braid for sensitivity and single pole the standing timber when the water is down like it currently is. I like the increased weight of the egg sinker so I don't have to spend forever waiting for the jig to drop to the target depth at each piece fo wood. I'll work the jig for a minute or so around the wood and then move to the next piece. We just got another big rain lastnight so the water color won't improve anytime soon.
