    Default Kentucky Lake 1/6/12

Singlepole and I eased up to the lake this morning at daylight for our first trip of the new year. Wound up with 40 keepers at noon and let one big one go. I have no idea how many short fish we turned loose, probably between 100-150 atleast. Great day to be on the water for January.

We fished with jigs in 10-15fow. Other guys I know have been catching fish in 15-25fow, my advice would be to try your favorite depth range and listen to what the fish tell you.

That's a good mess. I went today & fished hard for 14. Wind was tuff. Couldn't fish where I wanted to fish. Probably try'um again tomorrow. Wind won't be as bad.

Wind was pretty tough, glad we were in singlepole's glass boat with bigger TM. I would have had a hard time holding my boat in some of the areas we fished.

Went the next day (Saturday) & got to fish where I wanted to. I SMOKED THEIR BUTT! One of the best days I've had in years & I've had some darn good days. Caught a ton of BIG Yella Belly stripes to go with a limit of nice crappie. I probably caught over 100 crappie. Haven't seen this many short fish in years. I moved around a lot jump'n brush. Fish seemed to be back off the brush a tad, not right in it. 12' to 14' seemed to be the sweet spot. Caught some BIG Blacks up above the Whites. Sure feels good to get out and beat'um up again. Fix'n to head out & bust their fanny again today!
