I'm glad people are still getting out with this good weather in December. How were you fishing today? I figured that the Nolin bite would be tough with the rising water and change in water clarity throughout the majority of the lake. The forecast shows a major cold system blowing in over the next few days with as much as 4-5 inches of rain in some places on top of what we have already received over the last week.

My boat is out of commission due to two cracked carb bowls until I can get the new ones in from BRP. My trolling motr gave up the ghost after 5 years of service so I'm looking for replacement options. It does give me time to do some maintanance that needs to be done like changing out the impeller and regulator/rectifier.

    Dutch,
I was casting jigs, about the only way I ever fish. Sometimes when they are hunkered down tight in the wood I tight line jigs.
Talked to one other crappie fisherman and they had a tough day as well. I am always curious because I have a harder time on Nolin than I do on Green.
The water color at Mountadier was light stain, go up river and it starts to darken quick. I was debating between Nolin and the chance on dark water that had risen alot or Green which
is still clear up around the dam and has only came up 8 ft.
Your welcome to fish with me while your boat is down. Hard to fisn anyone to go this time of year. Hoping we miss most of the heavy rain so the lakes will be in shape soon.

I live close to Nolin but in the past I've usually fished other lakes because the bite has always been tougher on nolin for me than lakes like barren ,rough etc..I've decided to fish nolin more this year and try and learn the seasonal patterns better..Bee

I'm with you on that one Bee, Nolin just fishes different. But the quality this year keeps me coming back

Well, Green is 10 feet over summer pool and Nolin is 2 feet over summer pool. I drove over to Holmes Bend after work today and the water looks like chocolate milk. Yesterday Nolin looked to be 15 feet or so above where it was before the rains started. I'm kind of glad my boat is down right now because I don't expect to do much fishing until the water stabilizes.

I'm waiting for my carb bowls to be delivered from BRP to put on and I am pricing out a Terrova with iPilot to put on before springtime. I had forgotten how much trolling motors were so what is a few hundred more dollars for the iPilot that will make pulling cranks and trolling for walleyes so much easier? Bring On Another Thousand...

Nolin is being held back until things become more stable down river..The Ipilots are great, they take alot of the work away from running a trolling motor..also minn kota really has great customer support.Bee
