You might ask at the local baitshop or at the ramp. Most guys will tell you how deep they are catching them and whether they are hitting on jigs or minnows or a jig tipped with a minnow. They will try to be helpful as long as you don't try to move up and steal their spots.

Most of us understand somebody watching from a distance and trying to check it out later but don't think too much of someone moving in and marking the waypoint while we are fishing. just treat people the way you want to be treated and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Water temp will have a lot to do with where fish will be. Normally they should be in the mouth of the bays in anywhere from 12-18' of water. Tightlining will be your best bet. The bigger fish should be moving in by then. If you don't them, you might try a little deeper first, then shallow. Good luck to you and remember your life jacket. Kentucky can get rough if the wind gets up.

thank you B, i will do just that ....... ask at ramp and baitshop. i would never run up on someone to check where and or what people were catchin, alot of people do that and i also think that is vert rude.

i just wanted some general info as to how and where they are bitein. lol im not looking for anyones secret honey hole ....... just some info and clues.

    again thank you very much

Short grub Ive been fishing the lakes for the last 2 weeks, the future looks great with plenty of short fish, the crappie can be found from 4 ft to 16 ft in the bays. I like to cast and have found some of the larger black crappie very shallow but you have to fight the skipjacks off your lure. I wish I could help you more but Ill be leaving for home wed. The best day I have had was 9 crappie from 11 in to 15 in. I could have caught more but I use large lures and catch several nice smallmouth every day. I still would rather be fishing here then anywhere. Be aware of the shallow water, helped 2 boaters today get off the lakes.

Man, talk about bad luck! You are gonna be hit'n them right at the tail end of a pretty good cold front, Blue Bird sky, & windy conditions (call'n for 30+ on the 10th). Sorry buddy

On the bright side, the lake is pretty stable at around 355 and change. Water color is great & the water temp. is in the mid 50's in the bays. That should help a little.

That shallow bite is gonna be tuff. I would concentrate on the Whites in 10' to 14'. They haven't moved up as shallow as the Blacks & may not be as affected by the front. Check the tops of the brush piles cause the Blacks may back off the banks & suspend over a little deeper water.

The colors that I've had the best luck on lately are the Bobby Garland Monkey Milk and MoGlow Outlaw on a 1/8 or 3/32 oz jig (depending on the wind). 1/16 & 1/32 are gonna be hard to stay in contact with in high winds.

The keeper bite has been get'n better but you'll have to weed thru a ton of shorty's. Follow that 10" size limit close! We had the CO at our crappie.com shindig last week & they are step'n up enforcement this fall. Pretty expensive meat from what I gathered. A friend & I were out the other day & got checked twice. Once in the morning & later on that day! First time that has ever happened to me & I've been fish'n Ky. Lake for over 45 yrs.

Stay off that main lake in high north winds!

I hope yall have a great time & catch a lot of fish. Be SAFE!
    Thumbs Up

Looks like you must be living right SG. They have revised the forecast & the winds aren't gonna be near what they were say'n! Talk'n 5 to 10 on Thur. now! That's a fare cry from the 30+ they were call'n for! Must be nice to be a Weatherman, you can be wrong 75 percent of the time & still keep your job.
