Default Cumberland or Green River Lake

May have some unexpected time off work next week and thinking about taking a shoreline camping trip to green river or cumberland. Never been to GRL and only been to C-land once and never fished either. I will have my boat. Planning on crappie fishing but was hoping to find some bonus fish (walleyes, stripes, white bass). Would anyone recommend one over the other right now. Any general areas as a starting point. Normally fish rough river but looking for some new water to try out. Thanks

Never really fished Cumberland so can't say much about it. GRL has been giving up some fish but on the small side. If you just want to stay busy then GR is the place to go. State Park is a good place to camp also. Heading to Cave Run tomorrow morning for a couple of days camping. Never fished Cave Run but the weather looks good for the next two days.

No shoreline camping at Green. They do have primitive campsites at Green River state park. The crappie fishing is good there. Haven't targeted walleye or heard any reports.
    Hope this helps.

Walleyes on Green will be rare at best until the water cools off some more. We had been catching 1 or 2 a day when targeting them specifically during June and July, but daytime fishing for them essentially dried up unless it was an accidental catch. They will be in the transition from a night bite just like the crappie. Soon they will gorge themselves on shad like everything else but most who fish for them will be a tight-lipped fraternity on the lake. No stripers on the lake but good eating sized channel cats upward of 5 lbs are still being caught thorughout the lake on minnows, crawlers and crankbaits.

    Thumbs up

Well I took everyones advice and went to green. Had a great time. Caught around 75. Kept 25. No slabs but several nice eaters. Went through 6 doz minnows by myself. Found several brush piles on flats in 15-20 ft water with my HB 997. That thing is the greatest. Still learning how to read it 3 years later. Will definitely be returning to GRL.

I guess I should have mentioned I was spider rigging with 4 poles with ky lake rig with 2 droppers, a jigs and minnow. I caught several on jigs but they wanted the minnows yesterday.
