Fished about 2 hrs this morning (Friday) before the SLEET (yes, I said sleet), rain and wind kicked in. Caught 9 crappie and missed 3, spiderrigging jigs tipped with minnows. Fishing a dropoff where the water went from 11 to 24 ft. Caught the fish 15-16 ft deep in 14-17 FOW on the drop. I believe I could have done pretty well if I could have fished longer. All the fish were nice: 13-15 inches....and a mixture of blacks and whites. All the white crappie were males already sporting their black spawning colors. All the Black crappie, but 1, were females. The two largest, 15 inches each, were black. Water temp was 56 degrees when I left. If the water quits falling by late Sunday or early Monday as they are saying, watch out next week. Should be great fishing!

Im sure you have better information, Whiskers. I had heard they were going to stop it about 357 but that probably won't be the case. If they did, they could probably do that by late Monday or early Tuesday the way it's going down. I just hope they stop at 355. THere's a lot of water in the big rivers below us, maybe they won't be able to let it out as fast as they hope for.
This info comes from a guy that works on the hydraulics side at TVA. He qualified this by saying the 355 is contingent upon current rainfall predictions in the Tn., Cum, & Oh. river valleys, & could change with another large rain event. He said idealistically, they would like to have a gage of 355 on or around the 7th of Apr. & continue back up to summer pool from there. Right now the Oh & lower are falling pretty good & he thinks the 355 is doable.
I also braved the bad weather Fri. with a friend of mine & we managed to put a double limit in the boat. That sleet felt like get'n shot in the face with rock salt!I really believe the falling water helped the fish'n. Pulled'um back out where we could get to'um.
I really needed to have a good day. Every time I turned around after I got home off the boat something was interfering with my fish'n. This went a long way toward getting my confidence back where it oughta be. The pattern we fished was right where I thought they would be.
This was the first time I fished with this friend & it was great! He & I have about the same fishing style & every move he made was 1 I woulda made. I like fish'n with a guy that thinks about what he's do'n & doesn't just run around like a chicken with his head cut off.
I apologize for not divulging any info but when I go with someone I consider that "shared" info. If he wants to tell it fine. He was in the driver's seat.
Remember guys... The best days for fish'n ain't always the best days for catch'n! :D
