Attachment 57894On Thursday took home thirty. Biggest fish was 16 inches...most were 12 to 13 inches with a couple of 14 inches. Caught numerous 10 inch fish but back they went. Fishing conditions were bright sky with 15 to 20 MPH winds. When the wind would lay for a few minutes no hits were to be had. As soon as the chop got back on the water they tore it up. Most fish were caught in 30 feet of water holding at 10 feet.
On Friday took home 20 Crappie plus one nice Kentucky Bass...love those KY Bass. These fish were all bigger than the day before. Average fish was 14 inch. Started fishing at 6:00AM but only had one fish until 2:00PM. Then cloud cover took over and the bite was on. Wind was not as bad as Thursday but played a key role in catching fish. Smooth water...no fish...choppy water lots of fish. Caught in 30 feet with fish holding at 10 feet. Could have had a limit but at 5:00PM had to make the 100 mile drive back home.
I was using a Midnight Blue Crappie Magnet with a 1/32 ounce jig head with a #1 Matzuo sickle hook. As I posted in an earlier forum I owe someone on Crappie.com a thank you about moving up to the larger hook. As always I only use 2# test line. Will hit them again on Monday. It is hard to tell in the pics but the stringer of 20 were nearly as heavy as the thirty. Those 20 were all big, thick fish.
I know a lot of folks are touchy about people taking out so many Crappie. The only reason I mention this is I plan on posting a lot of pics in the next few weeks of...I hope...tons of Crappie. Most of my catch is given to a man who works with the Sr. Community Center here. He and others clean the fish and distribute them to elderly people who do not have a lot of money. I have done this for years and there are always tons of White Bass...Bluegill....Largemouth given away. A friend of mine made a remark that he would never give away Crappie to them. My remark back was "Don't they deserve the best tasting fish like the rest of us?".
Good mess for sure....way to go!

I will gladly take anyone fishing anytime...but no boats in there...LOL. Years ago, when people had manners, no one ever brought a boat in there. I owned a boat and lived there 11 years ago. That place was just always considered a place for bank fisherman. Today a few boaters will actually come in there and run over peoples lines and run the main motor where people are casting to. If there are a lot of people there, on the bank, it gets ugly. As they do on the catwalk...over by the generators...you get too close and the rocks start coming into your boat. I don't condone that and don't take part in it but it can get nasty there if a lot of folks are around.

if a rock comes in my boat shell will be going right back were the rocks come from
fishing from the couch in front of the tv doesnt count
I didn't mean to tick anyone off about the rocks at Pickwick. It is the way it is down there...and has been for a long time...espescialy over at the catwalk. As I said I don't participate in it and don't condone it...but if you want to fire a firearm at people on a TVA Federal Reservation and spend the next 20 years in prison by all means have at it.
