    Default Ky Lake Jig Fishing

Hello folks, I normally use minnows, would like to use artificals more, I don't spider rig, mostly slip floats or cast and jig/retrieve, on occasion I will get 2 poles in the water, I am curious to know the more productive ways to use tube jigs or hair/feather jigs, I am going Thu and Fri to try, thanks for any help

Sometimes they are all over a slow steady retrieve. Sometimes a little pause and/or flick of the wrist every 8 ft or so is what it takes to get their attention. Sometimes suspended under a bobber or reeled in slowly under a fixed bobber will do it. Try some nibbles until you find the fish and can see if they care whether the nibbles are there or not.

I read an article written by some Crappie guru...it really was written by someone of note I just can't remember who...that said there were 27 different types of retrieves he used for jigging for Crappie. I believe it. You need to try all of them. Now I don't remember what they all were but the point is Crappie may hit on a steady..fast....slow...pause.....lift and drop...you get the idea.

    Hey Skippy,
My main technique is holding 2 poles while hovering over brush or stake beds. I use 2 HiTech 11' JSG11's with 8# Vicious hi-vis,1/8 oz. glow heads with red and chartreuse glow 2" tubes.I change colors often with bright white and chartreuse being my second favorite. I mark the depth the fish are holding and try and fish slightly above them.I have to say with this technique you have to have a lot of stuff out. I keep about 5,000 waypoints in a safety deposit box with several backups. I pull all my cards out of my depth finders anywhere the boat is out of sight. May sound extreme but I have a lot of blood, sweat and money tied up in a lot stake beds. My point is that my style requires you have a lot of places GPS'd and move around a lot. I sit for 15 mins. on one place and move on. Just my style! The fun part over the years has been trying to find the fish and enjoying being out on the water.

To me.....dont know near as much as some guys on here but i do spider rig with tubes mainly but i ALWAYS tip with minnows dont really have any hard eveidence that it does and dosent help but i feel comfortable using them. In fishing, sometimes it's all about comfort and what you like to do. haha So in a nutshell i've ran circles around the question hope this helps good luck!
