    Default ky lake trip

Howdie fellas ! im planning a trip for the 3rd week of march to the first week of april
depending on the weather a water conditions. I have bought a map of ky lake and have been locking it in my head. planning on fishing near johnathon creek because that is where i fished out of close to 20 years ago. I cant seem to find blood river on map and have heard and read good things about the three bays across the lake (higgins sugar duncan )
question is. Are any of the bays better than the other. Am willing to trailer if i need to. Any information would be apprieciated and maybe i could help someone with some lake michigan jumbo perch if any one comes up this way Thanks.

The map you have probably is from the Ky. dam down to Ky/Tn line. There is another part to that map that goes from Blood river to Big Sandy river. There is a boat ramp in Smith bay but none in Sugar, Higgins and Duncan. Sugar bay is my favorite in March, usually targeting Big black crappie up shallow, using weedless tube jigs. You must be careful around these bays because of the water level will probably be low. Make sure you stay within the buoys when running. Go slow because of all the stuff under the water . There's an old town under the water there and many foundations left. Usually in March the water on the east side of Ky lake will be clearer than on the western side and black crappie like the clearer water best. Fish up shallow because the big blacks could be up there. You will see alot of people fishing out deep but a lot of times the big blacks will be up 5 to 15 ft. Hope you catch a lot and have a safe trip.Thumbs Up

I fish KY at least six or seven times a year. While I like to fish there many of the guys on here are from there and can give you tons of more information then I can. I personally don't know which bays you are talking about because the first time I actually fished Blood River I was hooked. I fish other places for other species of fish but for crappie I love Blood River.
"You should have been here yesterday!!!
