Hi Duck,
March has been best for me for crappie the last three years. Of course they are mainly black crappie with an occasional white. And of all the Barkley Bays I love little River. That goes for crappie and bass. The water is warming quick right now with these 60-70 degree days and warm rains. It looks like this pattern is going to keep up the next two weeks so I bet by the 18th we will be looking at mid 50' or higher. My main pattern if I were you would be casting jigs under casting bobbers to the bank. Look for rock, rip-rap, gravel, etc. I am a believer in Souther Pro Jigs. Colors vary but the main ones I use are the Little Hustlers, silver scale/white tail, silver scale/chartreuse tail, and black/chartreuse tail. I also like the stinger tail models as well. I also believe in Berkley Crappie Nibbles. Tip jigs or minnows with them. If the crappie are more aggressive I switch to 1/16 ounce pro-model Roadrunners tipped with black shad panfish assassins.
I hope this helps a little!
