Angry Swivl-eze snap lock 1.77 in boat seat pedestal problem

I've got these pedestals and bases. Man 2 of my bases I have to take a pipe wrench to get the pedestal posts out. I've tried cleaning them, vasoline. penitrating oil, nothing works.

    Any suggestions?

Wire brush on a drill in the sockets.

Have a friend who had to really work them over. Wire brushed the sockets every year and sanded on the pedestals.

Corrosion and scratches made for a tight fit.

I destroyed my pedestal getting it out. I had to eventually use heat in conjunction with some serious beating to get it out. Pedestal is toast but the base is still good.

You might try a product called slip plate.Graphite bassed compound used in high friction areas. Sold at big truck/trailer supply house. Also tractor supply has under different name. check with your engineer he might have a source something he uses on the boat. I have used wire brush and antiseize but that gets messy if you take them out all the time. Good luck.

    Thumbs up Problem Solved!

Got motivated and decided to fix'um or destroy'um!

Got my drill and a course sanding wheel & went to work on'um. Got pretty aggressive with the inside of the bases. After the course I went to a fine & then finished them off with a Emory flapper wheel. Smooth as a baby's butt!

Then I sprayed the posts & bases with a product called Motor Kote. Best stuff in the world! If you ain't got some you outta get some. You can get it at most TA & Pilot Truck Stops. I used the last I had on this project. I put it on all my latches, trailer hitches, and anything else that sticks. Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner!

Now I can slide my posts in & out with zero effort! They're not loose or sloppy either. Good snug fit! I'm soooooo glad to get that done! :D
