I have been fishing below the dam and the fishing is bad right now, last time out was 8-18-10 water was stained and the water temp was 87 degrees from early morning till late afternoon, I ran around every where and struck out. I have also been trapping the silver sides and still no takers besides the gar they are up and rolling everywhere. To some of the guys that live up this way I went to a.j. jolly today and caught a few fish nothing to brag about, all were short fish though, water was typical a.j. water slightly stained and the water temp was 82 in the morning and by late afternoon it was 84.

    EZGO,
Did you put in at Foster?? How is the ramp?? Next couple of weeks, with the cooler temps, things should start picking up in the river. I haven't heard or seen any reports lately.

Yea I went to foster today and was hybrid fishing but still got skunked, I could see them though busting on top of the water. I just couldnt reach them and I was throwing 1 1/2 slab spoon along with my 8fooot 6 st croix, but today was the first time I could see them since about a month or two. The hybrids were in the place where they discharge the locks, they would come up for a minute or so and I would wait about 5-10 minutes and there they were again and that was what they did pretty much till about one pm. Water was clear and it was graphing 86 to 85.50 around one pm. I sure hope it picks up soon that was a heart breaker to watch I was all the way up to the bouys and kept a constant running of my 70lb troll motor on 60% so it had good current.

Maybe your spoon falls too fast. Sounds like they may be feeding near the top. Did you try any topwater or jig/fluke, swimbaits? At least you are getting out. It shouldn't be too long the fishing should start picking up soon!

I'll keep the updates going, so I was out this morning for a little while and fishing up at the locks and casting a spoon and the gar were unreal today. Every other time the spoon hit the water there was a gar hitting it, and every other time I threw some plastic the tales were chopped off. Water temp in the morning was 83 and by one is when I ramped the boat it was 85.50, water was also clear. I stopped at bear creek and the skipp jack were chasing bait in the middle of the day which was good I havent seen that also in a few weeks. If anybody puts in at foster, back the boat in the water slow because of the low water, there are some big chunk rock in there.
