Fish on top of river channel or secondary channel ledges, 20'-30' deep. Use minnows, jigs or minnow jig combo. I usually find early morning best, before the sun gets bright, or cloudy days.

What time of year/water temp does this technique seem to work best for you...??

What part of the sauger's yearly travels does this fall under...??

Seems like the guys at work fish for them in Jan. or Feb. but they are pretty particular to a certain range of current being pulled or they just stay home.

As far as time of year, I usually start about now if crappie fishing is slow. November, especially around Thanksgiving seems to be a good time, and can be good through the winter if weather holds out.

Be prepared to catch some good catfish until water cools below low 50's.
