I'm in for the 8th and 9th. Sort of doubt the 10th will work.

Well looks like we'll shoot for Oct. 8, 9, & 10 at Big Bear resort. There are other places close that you can stay and commute to the gathering if you choose.
Talked to Big Bear management yesterday and if I understood correctly they are gonna offer the "off season" rates on cabins, cottages and campsites. There is a $5 a day visitor fee for anyone not staying here but coming in to visit.
Be sure you tell them you are attending the CDC get together if you make reservations. This may help us in the future to get even better rates if we choose to do it again.
I just ordered a new $300 fish fryer thats supposed to be able to feed 30 people an hour so we should be good on that. We gottta have a fish fry!
Also this is a dry county so if you want any "refreshments" you might wanta stock up on the way in. It is not a problem here at the campground if you wanta have a few.
If this works out, and I'm sure it will, I'd like to do it again next spring.
P.S. Bring some hip waders. I know some of these guys that are come'n and "it" might get pretty deep! :D

What do you need? I guess the better question to ask, how many are coming. Put me down for 1. Don't tell Whiskers about the GPS I had my brother place on his boat. Set to start working Sept. 1.

We need group participation. I have put on several big get togethers but they just lasted 1 day. Other than that my only experience is Deer camp. I know that some of the folks that are coming have probably been to a crappie camp and may have some insight on what we may need to focus on and what they did at the other camps.
I don't know how many "gathered" meals a day we want to try to have. We can do what ever yall want. Definitely want to have a big supper each night.
I am set up fairly good on the fish frying thing I think. My new fryer will be here by then. I have a big 2 burner Camp Chef stove and access to another 1. I only have 1 small gas grill and a small smoker/charcoal grill at the campground. I have 2 Turkey fryers and can deep fry 2 turkeys an hour. I also have a big shrimp pot if we need it.
We will be about a 15 to 20 minute drive from a Super Wal-Mart so we can get things pretty quick if we need them. I'm gonna make a big pot of my Deer/Elk Chili for sure.
I am open for meal suggestions.
My wife works in the Meat Department at Super Value and might be able to get us a good deal on our meat or if someone else knows a good place to get the meat I'm cool with whatever works as long as it's good quality. I might know where there's a few Crappie filet's lay'n around if we need'um but I prefer fresh. :D
What do yall think about have'n a donation jar to help cover the cost of the meats.
Things we may need:
Lawn chairs
Paper Plates
Plastic forks
Cooking oil
Plastic cups
Paper Towels
Drinks
Help with some of the cook'n
Trash bags
BS repellent (we'll probably go thru a lot of this)
Taters
Onions
Aluminum pans
Aluminum foil
Coolers
Lanterns
There will probably be more things but that will get us started.
I am on lot 73 at Big Bear. Lot 72 next to me is usually open but it is a small spot. It would be good if someone got that spot so we would have more room. I have the biggest lot there but I don't know how many folks we're look'n at. My cell # is 270-331-8438.
If you are coming to camp and it looks like we may get some rain beware of lots 29 & 30. They are nice lakeside sites but they get sloppy when it rains alot.
Here's a link & phone # to Big Bear resort.

Maybe we could plan on having one big meal together on Saturday evening. That way we can fish Friday and Saturday and hopefully catch plenty to fry. We can just socialize and fend for ourselves for meals the rest of the time.
Most, like me, will probably have to head for home around noon on Sunday.
This is just a suggestion of course.
I'm good with whatever everybody wants to do. One thing about it... The more we cook and eat, the less we fish.
I may go ahead & throw together a big pot of deer/elk chili or something for the ones coming in on Friday.
BTW I'll be fresh in off the boat and will be staying at the campground for a couple of weeks atleast that month. So if anybody wants to stick around longer we can still fish and BS after the others leave..

I have a smoker, grill etc and can transport all we need. 2 shoulders fit on my smoker so if we want I can smoke em. I use magic valley bbq rub and it is award winning. If the campground is full I have a few spots not too hilly....only problem is a bathroom but I'll kick her out if she won't let us use the facilities!(She would probably toss me first!!!) Still planning but terrys spot and my house are 1/2 mile apart.....I hear him blow gas from here some nights!!!

I'd love to be able to attend but looks like I'll be in Destin unless the beaches are oil covered. Would much rather be at Ky Lake fishing and swaping lies than Destin but I'm outnumbered this time.
Ah, Destin, I sure miss that place, it's a wonderful town. Oh well, I'll venture back there someday I'm sure. Enjoy your trip and some great seafood!
