    Folks I need some help.

Bout all I fish for is crappie. I have 2 Nephews come'n to visit and camp at Big Bear for a few days. 1 is 14 and 1 is about 11. Their dad isn't in the picture so Uncle Terry has stepped in. They both wanta go catch catfish. Anybody been catch'n any? What bait and what type of areas should I concentrate on right now.

I really want these boys to have a good time.

Crappie fish'n trip to anybody that can put me on'um. :D

BTW. You'll probably see the oldest 1 play'n basketball for UK 1 of these days (better be UK). :D Heck of a bb player! Only 14 and right at 6'.

I haven't been this year Whiskers, but usually around this time Fishtale and I fish Barkley and have done well in the past. If interested about Barkley, give me a PM and I can give you some details.

A guy i work with just spent the weekend at Kentucky Lake and he was told by alot of the fishermen that they were catching them in 45 to 50 feet of water. That seems really deep for this time of year but my coworker fished from 2 to 15 feet of water and didn't catch a single one all weekend. Good luck!!!!

Whiskers I havent been able to try for any cats this year, but I would say below the either dam. We always used cut bait but i have been told that shrimp works really well. Stop by Joes Barber Shop on HWY 62 in Calvert and ask Joe where the cats are best right now. You might want to wear wadders though cause the crap can get real deep real quick in there:D

    Terry,
Below Barkley has had a pretty good catfish bite on cut bait. Have you thought about fishing for Stripers. Below Kentucky has been pretty good for striper the last few days with the better generation. 4 - 6 inch live shad has been the best on KY bumping a 3 way with 3 oz. sinker in the afternoon. Getting good bait has been the key. Some are doing OK with x-large minnows. My neighbor Smoothie is the best catfisherman in the area and I will ask him tomorrow what has been good on the catfish. If you need a Striper guide Jimmy Doom has them dialed in right now.

Wiskers, you could always try baiting a bunch of jugs while you tried to hook up with some on a pole. I made some from a pool fun noodle and bait them with small bluegill or shrimp. We always catch several cats this way and the kids have a ball chasing down those noodles. Hope to see hour nephew wearing the big blue jersey and going for number twelve or thirteen. Good luck, hope you can put them on some fish.
