    Default cedar creek

daughter and i fished early at Cedar today Caught 42 crappie in 15 fow. Fish were 5-7 deep. Cleaned 29 and 22 had eggs in them!!! the other 7 were male. can't figure out why they are still carring eggs. Maybe CP can enlighten us......? We fished minnows under a slip bobber. Left at 10am due to lake traffic.

    Question Tiger ....

    I wish I knew

I fished it Sunday morning from daylight til 930AM, from the bank ... but, couldn't find any Bluegill or Shellcracker beds. Several places, where I've known them to bed before ... nothing much happening. One place, in particular ... the flooding had moved some large blowdowns across the access, so they couldn't be reached from shore.
The flooding that occurred there, albeit only a couple of feet over normal level, could have muddied the water enough for the Crappie to have held off, this year. They are all Black Crappie, so they're keyed on clear water. Water temps are probably too warm, now, for them to even give it a late try.

Personally, I hope they don't/didn't spawn ... that'll only help cut down on the numbers, and maybe give them another year to grow. The grass beds still seem to be growing ... but, the moss (that used to be on about everything in the lake) seems to have all but disappeared.

    ... cp
