Hey Pappy no matter what they say crappie are not jumping in the boat. Been there the last couple of years and caught 1 crappie each trip. Caught a lot of little bass and several bluegill and catfish. Had a good time on the lake but it is over advertized as a
crappie lake. I am not a good crappie fisherman but the days I was there neither was anybody else.

Yeah, Larry .... your're right
... it never panned out to be the Crappie lake they wanted it to be. Lots of Crappie, but they never grew much. That's why they took the size limit off & upped the creel to 30/day :p
It's got potential, but it may be a few years. Now, on the other hand .. the original idea for the lake ... it being managed for trophy Bass, has worked out quite well. I've heard of a 9lb'r having been caught from there ... and it's not unusual to hear about 6's & 7's being caught, regularly.
If you get there when the Crappie are spawning, you can catch them right & left ... otherwise, you have to hunt a bit for them. Once you find a tree, or a spot where they're schooled up on .... you can usually catch them for hours on end. And there's some good sized Bluegill & Shellcrackers in there, too, and they're alot easier to catch fishing from the bank, than the Crappie are
... cp
