Kentucky Lake Mar. 30 - Apr. 3
Left out on Tuesday evening, March 30th, didn't get there in time to fish, but got up Wed. (31st) morning and went out with Ed Evans from Craig Hispher's guide service.
Old Guide was booked and we were able to hook up with Ed.
Ed is an outstanding person, He's awesome. Alot of fun to fish with and very knowledgeable. We had a great day except for the Wind. It blew us all day and we left that evening with about 13 yellow bass and 8 crappie. And got to meet Wiskers and Angel. (That was the highlight of the whole trip)
Thurs. (Apr. 1st) - Instead of going at them at day break, knowing that the best bite was later in the day. We picked up a few supplies and opted for fishing that evening. Plus 30 MPH Winds didn't hurt with us making up our minds. Hoping it would die down some by evening.
Wrong, it kept on bringing it. 20 - 25 MPH. We fished Big Bear Day 1 and Day 2. We ended up with a few yellow bass, 1 crappie and 1 bluegill. Fishing the stake beds and brush and walls. Very disappointed.
Day 3 (Apr. 2nd) - We hit it early, was on the water just about daylight. We put in at KY Dam Marina, the wind wasn't as bad but as the day went on, it picked up big time. Probably 15 - 25 MPH. Talked to Wiskers and met up with him, he wasn't killing them (Just yet). We fished till around noon, gave up because of the wind, plus one of our channel markers had gotten tangled in a brush pile and tore the mounting bracket off the back of the boat for the transducer.
Came back out that evening after a short rest, talked again to Wiskers, and we put in at Sledd. He was coming out as we were going in. Took a look at his live well and could have cried, haha, jk (See his post about his live well Friday). We ended up on Friday catching some Drum, Large Mouth Bass, a few keeper bluegill, some yellow bass and 2 crappie.
Came home on Sat. (Apr. 3) - probably should have fished, but we were wore out from fighting the wind all week, sun burnt and just plain tired.
Total numbers: 11 crappie, 30 odd yellow bass, 2 nice bluegill, no sizeable green carp, few drum (shoulda kept the drum)
So all in all, not a great trip for catching, but weather was great for fishing, except the wind. 70s-80s everyday, no rain, but again, the wind.
But, we had a great time, met what I consider to be 2 great men and great friends in Ed and Wiskers.
No need in me posting pics, I have a couple, but nothing like the pics from Wiskers live well.
Great meeting you Wiskers and hope to see you again soon.
Jesus Said: Come, follow me & I will make you fishers of men.
