Thumbs up I Didn't Know Crappie Liked Pie...

But they sure as heck do. Key Lime pie. :D

I woke up this morning at 0345. Couldn't go back to sleep. I knew the wind was suposed to blow today but not too bad this morning. Sooooooo, I jumped in the truck and took off to the lake. At 0525 I was set'n in my boat in the dark.

Took off and started casting steak beds for Blacks in about 5' to 8' of water. This is where I caught fish Monday and Tuesday. The sun came up and the Turkeys started gobbol'n. Beautiful sunrise. I was gonna kill'um!

Wrooooooonnnnng! All I had up till about 1000 was 2 fish that got off at the boat! To say it sucked would be a gross understatment.

By now the wind's start'n to get up. I decided that with the llake having fell a little the Blacks weren't gonna cooperate. I decided to go look for the Whites. Found]um right off the bat. 8" to 10" deep in 16' of water.

The Bobby Garland Key Lime Pie Baby Shad was the hot jig. Man If I had had 3 more people in the boat we all could'a limited out. I bet I caught well over 100 fish. Lots of 10" fish but some goodn's too. I didn't keep anything under 11".

Harleyman and his buddy were in from Eastern Ky. I met them coming in as I was going out. We stopprd on the road and bs'd a while and I showed them the live well.

I didn't take any pictures but Wes (Harleyman) did. I'll get him to email them so I can post them. Really nice mess of fish! It was worth fighting the gail force winds for a great day of catch'n!

    Pictures come'n later.

    Cool

Talk about a man that can fish, Wiskers can flat out roll 'em. I'll post the pics or email them to ya. It was great fishing with you and bsing. Thanks for everything you did for us!

We caught 2 all day and Wiskers busted eggs in 'em.

But we've had fun if the dang wind woulda co-operated, maybe we coulda caught more fish.

    Sure.. rub it in.

I went out this morning and had one fish to show for it. Went back out this afternoon and wound up with 12.. a couple of them were monsters.

I couldn't find them this morning to save my life. I tried everything from 13' to 5'.

    Congrats on the catch.

I couldn't buy a black yesterday morning. I went chase'n the whites and if my depth finder didn't read 16' (not 15', not 17'), I wasn't catch'n fish. They were up high on it. As a matter of fact I caught 2 nice black females and several dink black males probably 5' deep over the brush on 1 pile.

This is only the second time since I've been home, that I've found the whites in the brush.

I really think the water fall'n hurt the black bite and helped concentrate the whites in the deeper water on the brush. Most of the fish I caught were females.

I tried cast'n the piles but you know how the wind was. Vertical jig'n was the only way I could catch'um in the wind. I know if the wind hadn't been blow'n I coulda caught them cast'n. Seemed like they wanted it move'n not just set'n still.

Sometimes I get so focused on the blacks that I forget that we have 2 species to consider. Not always but sometimes, if 1 ain't do'n it the other is.
