Cool Don't Ya Just Love TVA

Man we just can't get a break.

Prister posted the other day that he'd communicated with The COE and TVA about possibly holding water levels at 358 here on Ky. Lake. Well for about the last week there's been a steady draw down. Expected that.

I just looked at the TVA site and they're forecasting 357.90 by Tuesday. That's about 2' fall in 1 week.

What ever they decide to do both the COE and TVA have to work together because of the canal. If 1 pulls they both fall.

Right now I don't think were in trouble with the spawn but these next few days of warm weather are gonna really push the Blacks to dump. I just hope the water level steadies up before they bed.

Paul, any updates you have/can get would be greatly appreciated.

Where we at on the spawn verses the water levels?

You'd think TVA had atleast a few crappie fishermen call'n the shots.

Fishermen don't have to political pull that marina operators and the folks who live in the million dollar houses on the lakes do. TVA/ COE will tell you that these lakes are there for FLOOD CONTROL and that alone. They won't tell you that they also have the ear of those who financially benefit from the lakes. High water will hurt their bottom line or maybe make it hard for them to keep riff-raff fishermen away from their docks and yards.

A few years ago the lakes were experiencing a fishing BOOM when the grass got established. The fishermen were loving it but the TVA ear got tuned into a few landowners who didn't like the grass around their docks. What happened? The grass got sprayed and killed, the fishing and reproduction went to crap, and TVA lied like dogs saying it didn't happen. I know danged well it did because I was out there more than once when a friend of mine, TVA employee, was spraying it.

Flood control is not the only purpose of the dam but it is #1 on the list.

I know exactly what you mean. A long time ago I pulled my boat to KY lake. Found fish that evening and thought we would have a great trip with good weather on the forecast. That night TVA started releasing water and we didn't have another good day of fshing while we were there.

It kind of gave us a sour taste it was our first trip there and we haven't been back since.

We are thinking about trying it again next year. I know its a great lake for crappies.

    Default spawn

I think Wiskers is concerned about the fish coming in to spawn and the water level drops leaving the eggs on dry land , killing the reprodution for the future . you can't keep doing that year after year without putting a hurt on a great resource for Ky area .
