I use to do night fishing in north carolina. we always had a crappie light. when it got dark enough to not see your cork, we would get the light out and keep on catching. the light attracts the bait fish therefor the crappie come running. the best places to do this is around the structures and stump. the clarity of the water determinds how far from the boat u can fish, but I LOVE IT.:D
