Default Friday and Saturday Crappie Excursions

Friday was the kids trip, so being they were out of school and the sun was out we went hunting for the elusive crappie!

My son caught the first fish of the day.

Then the girls tried to get into the act, but ole dad snagged afew and let them reel them in!

The main thing is that they had fun! I think the girls had more fun getting the net and netting my fish!

Ended up friday with 5 crappie and a bluegill, and we threw back several stripers! We fished for about 2 hours before overpowering boredom kicked in.

Then on saturday 20th, my lovely bride wanted in on the action. So the wife and I, and 2 of our kids went fishing. Got a late start because they need sleep and breakfast, I don't know what those are! But we got on the lake by 10am, and headed back to the ramp at 1ish pm. The wind and chop really put a damper on what was starting to be a good mess of fish.

Ended with 8 crappie. The wife caught 1 crappie, daughter caught a striper by herself, and caught the remaining 7 crappie and a ton of stripers. My son couldn't keep his jaws still enough to concentrate on fishing!
All of this were caught on jigs, green and chart. heads with green and chart. jig tubes. I have been fishing the north end of KY Lake these last few days.

Sounds like a great 2 days spending time with the family! The big fish looks to have a little red in the tail. Was it is shallow?
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

All of these fish came from 8-12ft of water. I have been drifting flats and using maps to locate ditches and breaks to find some fish. The weather really got to the wife and kids today. The chop was only getting worse when we left.
I think they are beginning to stage up in the mouths, but still scattered. Brush piles are still empty for the most part. I hope the weather does not cool down the waters, or we will have to start over again!

Those smiles tell it all. I bet it makes you and your bride very proud. Keep it up, it is nice to see kids learning the sport of crappie fishing.
