    Default Aluminim v-bottom boat

I found a v-bottom alumunim boat at one a local dealer for $1,000. It comes with with a 5 hp motor a trailer and it is 12 to 14 long. It is kind of an older boat.
My first question is this a good price?
My second question how stable are they and are comfortable to fish out of with two people.
    Thanks for your response.

I'd say it's a very good price if everything is in working condition. I wouldn't venture into the main lake much in a boat that small, but trailering to different ramps and fishing coves should be fine. A 12 footer would be a little tight for two. Remember, you'll have a battery, gas can, tackle box(es), etc. they fill up fast! Hope you find what you are looking for!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

Your not gonna get much else for that price, if thats your budget, that go for it, sounds like its set up and ready to go. 12' is cramped with 2 people but can be done. I started with a 10' jon boat with only a trolling motor, and fished out of it for years and caught tons of fish from it.

Honestly, I'm not sure that is a good price. It doesn't sound outrageously high, and if you trust the guy and the equipment is in good condition, then there is no doubt that you can have $1000 worth of fun in it.

I watch Craig's List Lexington out of habit, and $1000 will probably get you something a little nicer if your not in a hurry to make a purchase. This one is one there right now, seems like a nice set up for $900, two trolling motors but no gas motor:
12' Jon Boat and Trailer Ready to Fish

This one doesn't look as nice, but has the 9.9 hp:
    1971 jon boat

There is quite a bit of difference between 12 and 14 feet if you go with a buddy. Doesn't sound like much, but it makes a difference. No gas motor on this one, but only $700:
    14' Flat Bottom Jon Boat/Trailer

Don't know how old this stuff is, but this guy is below your price range:

I'm not recommending any of this stuff, I'm just listing it for example of what you can get on Craig's list.
