What is it showing me? Caught 1 crappie all day even tho i thought this was an excellent place to fish.
Looks like lots of standing timber. You might be going a lil too fast over the cover cuz the trees look like they are leaning. As for the fish ID, I would turn it off and set your sensitivity and ping speed up to show clear arches, then you know its fish. On my old HB brushpiles could be mistaken for schools of fish. Learn to use that thing, they are the poo, I want one bad. Check out HB's forums dedicated to the HB SI. There is also a guy on the electronics section of CC that works for humminbird and can help.
BTW, were those taken at NOLIN?
What is the ping speed you mentioned. I could not find any thing that said ping speed. I wish i could get it to showing the arches. Yes they were taken up toward briar creek at nolin.
I completely agree: I see a TON of standing timber. The vertical shadows extending from the bottom on up are dead giveaways.
I've never been a fan of Fish-ID, and I think you're seeing why when you look at your 2D images. The small returns from branches and other debris in the water are too easily interpreted as fish.
Below is a screen capture from my 1197 that shows a whole pile of fish. Note that the vertical sonar shadows present in your images are absent; rather, the sonar shadows are compact dark spots...the hallmark of fish in SI
Definately standing timber, I would use the cursor and zoom in on one tree. It looks like the fish are suspended at a level towards the top. I too would agree that you need some tweaking on your sensitivity and speed. Right around 4 is the fastest I go.

Ping speed is how fast your sonar sends returns down into the water that bounce back. The faster the detalil, especially if you are Idling fast. You can also look at the far right on the 2 d imaging and watch it like you would a flasher, then you can tell the difference of brush vs fish, and the faster the ping the more real-time sonar you are getting. Its just speeds up the signals you are sending into the water and returning to the transdicer, you can hear some speed up the clicking noise if you have a trasnducer that is loud enuf. I have a Lowrance 527cigps and love it once I learned to use it. I can vertilag jig or spider rig deep water and watch m jigs and sinkers and put them right in front of a fish, but it has to be set right. My transducaer is on the trolling motore though, so you probably wont be able to do that. Good luck, figure that thing out and you will always be able to find em, then you just gotta seal the deal by making em bite. I would love it for lakes like cave run and lots of lakes that are drawn down to find offshore cover and structure to fish when they are deep and out in the open water.
