Trophy fishing, history of hunting and fishing, this weekend on “Kentucky Afield” TV
Frankfort, Ky. – One standout fishing opportunity has “Kentucky Afield” television and Kentucky Afield magazine doing double duty at Lake Barkley this weekend, June 27 and 28, on KET.
Trophy fisheries have always attracted the spotlight. Fishing guide Jim Doom shows us why. Redear sunfish keep the cameras rolling and the shutters snapping as the live well fills. We talk with Kentucky Afield magazine artist/photographer Rick Hill about the hooks his magazine will cover, and to “Kentucky Afield” television host Tim Farmer, who brings the limelight to life on TV.
A little farther east, hybrid striped bass have caught our eye. At Rough River Lake, Jeff Bratcher shows Farmer the lure these lunkers like best.
Lastly is part III of our three-part series on the history of hunting and fishing. Enter the era of habitat and species restoration, harvest regulations and the virtues of modern wildlife management in Kentucky and beyond.

WE NEED MORE COWBELL
I try never to miss Kentucky Afield, love the show. But sometimes they don't give enough detail on the techniques they are using for fishing.
I'm just an ornery sinner saved by Grace:o
no problem, thanks for posting.
WE NEED MORE COWBELL
I too watch it every week. That shellcracker fishing looks like a lot of fun. Those were huge, and really good eating also. That to me would be more fun than the Bass fishing.
ky afield radio is also very good, sundays 6-8 pm listen to past shows or live stream at myhuntingandfishing.com they give away stuff to callers, check it out.
WE NEED MORE COWBELL
I have my cable DVR set to catch all of them![]()
Check on YouTube, in a couple of weeks, and it might be there. It isn't on there, yet (I've already looked) ... but, it could end up on there.
Here's a link to all the ones currently on there : YouTube - Kentucky Afield fishing hunting outdoor show television woods water tim farmer tradition wildlife nature outside
As far as "how was it" .... pretty nice piece. As usual, they don't go into a whole lot of detail, and they do spend alot of time showing their magazine photographer taking pics of the fish they catch ... but, they do show the bait used, and you can see from the video just how they are rigged up. They were catching some nice "ears" ... about a pound in weight.
