    Default Perry - 7/11

No luck whatsoever yesterday. Finally got my little jon boat out, but I must be doing something wrong or hitting the wrong spots or something - not to mention, the wind was wicked on that small of a boat... I'll be the first to admit that I am not the most experienced crappie fisherman out there, so it's 100% entirely possible that my technique is messed up somewhere - I'm always open to suggestions and education - even things like the speed of retrieval of a jig are not out of bounds! Lol

Anyway, I put the bobber stop at various depths ranging from 12 inches to 8ft (and without a bobber), fishing in 15-25 fow - changed jigs between pink/yellow, chart/white, minnow lookalike plastics, dark and light grub plastics, and a few other things I'm sure I forgot about - bounced between 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4 ounce heads - all over about 4-5 hours. Nada... Not sure if it's me or them, but something just ain't right... lol

Did you remember to unzip their lips, some days there zipped pretty tight If you want to fish Eldorado give me a PM and we will get together. I am not a pro like a lot of these guys on crappie but have a 19' boat with a empty back seat and will be glad to take you out.

The wind will make it tough, especially in a tin (I fish from one as well). I fish a tandem jig set up on each rod with an 1/8 oz on top and 1/4 oz on bottom, and fish with a rod in each hand. I usually set the jigs down to 12'-15' deep while fishing in 15-20 fow. I move around slowly to best keep my line vertical or slightly behind. For windy days, I will fish two 1/4 oz jigs. I poke and prod piles and breaklines until I get bit, then buoy marker gets thrown out. Then I work the area more meticulously. I'm a jig guy, but have recently found minnows fruitful during summer. I'm done fishing for the moment as I have a baby due in a couple weeks. PM me your #. Would love to meet and learn from another CDC member.

I think you're right - they were zipped super tight! lol I may take you up on that fishing trip. We are trying to prepare a house for sale in Rose Hill, so I may be that way again in the next few weeks. Just depends on what the realtor says we need to fix, or whatever. lol
