jig head colors

Hope everyone had a good and safe holiday. Since all I got to was watch it rain and ice. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Been wondering if anyone has a color choice f or their jig heads? Or does it depend on jig color or does it even make a difference? I am curious.

I use just a plain lead head, 96% of the time. I have friends that swear, at times the painted heads will produce more.

I have found that jighead color can make a huge difference and is just another piece of the puzzle. I make quite a few and people even swear that the hook color makes a difference. When we were at truman a few weeks ago, everyone I talked to swore that orange was the go to jighead color so that's all I used. Now when fishing at perry, chartreuse seems to help although sometimes it doesn't seem to matter at all the color of the head or the body for that matter. I think in stained or clear water it probably can make a difference but the murkier water, probably not so much. Now glow on the other hand can be a game changer when fishing murky or deep water. I know when I troll blades jighead like roadrunners, they may hit a certain color jighead more than others even with the same color body. I just always try to use a different color head than the body so I give them a variety of colors to look at.

I started off using colored jigheads. Now i just use plain lead ones.

I think its a mental thing. I really havent seen any difference in a jighead color making a difference. Just some jigs like a roadrunner casts further and sink faster because of the extra weight of the spinner.

I used to go crazy buying roadrunners also. But now i just use non roadrunners.

I usually use a bright orange head no reason just looks good

I have seen days where colored heads make a difference. This is especially true in stained water like Truman. When we are spider rigging we may have 16 jigs rigged with different colored heads and can notice a definite difference just as when one color plastic is better than another. I like to cheat a little and powder coat with two colors. I will use chartreuse as a base coat then add hot pink or orange to the tip. We also fish a lot for whites and stripers and color doesn't matter. We just use plain heads.

I like the 2 tone pink/chartreuse and black/chartreuse.
